The Mattel Hot Wheels Cycling Team is a non-profit [501c3], philanthropic organization devoted to promoting the awareness and benefits of cycling, particularly for underserved youth. In addition, the club promotes cycling as a safe and healthy lifestyle, encouraging Mattel employees and others to incorporate the benefits of cycling into their daily lives, while supporting a number of worthy causes - a win for everyone. At the present time the club has close to 130 members.
The Hot Wheels Cycling Team is involved in many activities throughout the calendar year. Some of these activities include giving away prizes at kid's races or participating in "after-school" events. The team also provides sag support at professional racing events for its elite riders that compete. There are over 50 local crit, road, track and cross races per year, of which some team members participate in races from California, Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. The Hot Wheels Cycling Team also participates in 5 major charity rides per year that attracts tens of thousands of cyclists.
The Hot Wheels Cycling Team also host our own charity ride called the Elliot Handler Memorial Ride (named after the founder of Mattel). This event is a charity ride that helps raise money for the Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA and other Mattel Children's Foundations charities.
